Popcorn is a great option for a healthy snack!

Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks! It seems to have a bad reputation In the eyes of many fad diets, but is an extremely well balanced and satisfying snack! Corn is a whole grain, so popcorn contains fiber and a bit protein on its own.


3 cups of air popped popcorn contains approximately:

  • Calories: 90

  • Carbohydrates: 18 gm

  • Fiber: 4 gm

  • Protein: 3 gm

You can learn more about fiber needs HERE (link to my Dietary Fiber Intake article) but 4 gm of fiber for 90 calories is fabulous! To put fiber intake in perspective, most adults are aiming for 21+ gm fiber daily.


I love adding nutritional yeast to my popcorn for extra protein and a cheesy taste!
